Ejisu
A small town just outside the bustling city of Kumasi, Ejisu is full of history. It was the home of Yaa Asantewaa, the queen mother who led the Asante rebellion against the British in 1900. For this reason, Ejisu is sometimes referred to as the Queen City.

Kumasi Fort and Military Museum
Built by the Asante in the 19th century, the Kumasi Fort now serves as one of West Africa's top military museums. Learn the history of the Asante-British War, colonialism, and the evolution of Ghana's military. Open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 5pm. Guided tours available.

Bonwire weaving village
The village of Bonwire is known for weaving Kente cloth, a vibrantly colored fabric with a long tradition. Here, you can visit weaving shops, buy kente souvenirs, and even try your hand at the complicated craft. Bonwire is only eight miles from the Davellen Lodge.
Manhyia Palace Museum
Visit the historic palace where the Asante kings ruled. The on-site museum provides visitors with a rich history of Asante culture and royalty. Tours available.
